Hyderabad: Broken chalk pieces are part of life for children. But for a six-year-old boy in Sanathnagar, it brought on a brutal round of thrashing from his mother’s paramour.
According to the police, the child’s mother, a domestic help who lost her husband a year ago, was living with her two children in Moti Nagar of Sanathnagar. She was allegedly in an extra-marital affair with Prithviraj (28), a resident of Babbuguda in Motinagar, who is married with children but lives alone.
Sanathnagar Sub-Inspector K Krishna said, on Monday evening while writing on a slate, the child accidentally broke a chalk piece. “Prithviraj got furious over this, grabbed a plastic wire and thrashed the child, inuring his back and face,” he said.
When the boy cried out loud, neighbours came to his rescue. The SI said the neighbours alerted the police and a team was sent immediately to the boy’s house. Prithviraj was arrested.
“The boy was facing problems with Prithviraj for the last one year. He was being assaulted physically for no reason. Even Monday’s incident was just a reason Prithviraj made up as he wanted to beat him,” he said.
Police booked a case under the Indian Penal Code and Juvenile Justice Act, and Prithviraj was remanded in judicial custody.
