10 tonnes of rice destroyed as lorry catches fire in Nalgonda

Nalgonda: A rice-laden lorry caught fire following sparks in the vehicle’s battery at Dhandempally village in the district on Wednesday. About 10 tonnes of rice valued at Rs 30 lakh was destroyed in the fire.

The rice was being transported from a rice mill at Haliya in the district to Odisha in the lorry. According to the police, spark erupted in the battery when the driver took a sudden turn at a road curve near Dhandempally village, leading to the fire engulfing the lorry. The vehicle was completely damaged in the fire, police said.
