Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police in association with Synchrony Financial on Tuesday installed 128 CCTV cameras in the city. The cameras have Automatic Number Plate Recognition System, Video Analytics, Mobile Surveillance System, and are linked to the Command Control Centre and Data Centre. They were installed in the Chandrayangutta, Falaknuma, and Reinbazaar police station limits.
The move came in the wake of an MoU signed last year between Hyderabad City Police and Synchrony Financial to adopt communities for installation of CCTVs. Synchrony Financial has sponsored maintenance costs for all the cameras for a period of five years and the initiative is built at a financial support of Rs 1 crore.
M Mahendar Reddy, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad said, “The installation of CCTV cameras is an important step towards making Hyderabad a safer and a smarter city. We believe the strengthening of the surveillance network in the city will positively impact and improve the safety of citizens.”
Faisal Uddin, Senior Vice President and Business Leader Synchrony Financial India, said, “We are happy to partner with the Hyderabad Police. This initiative will help the police maintain a safe environment in city and better monitor of law and order.”
