137 autos engaged to help PwDs vote in Nagarkurnool

The distribution of voting machines among the polling booths was done in the presence of senior district-level election officers at the distribution centre.

Nagarkurnool: Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and VVPATs were transported to 775 polling booths in Nagarkurnool, Kollapur and Achampet constituencies by 500 private and RTC buses amid tight security on Thursday. A total of 3,660 persons are on election duty in the district.

The distribution of voting machines among the polling booths was done in the presence of senior district-level election officers at the distribution centre. In Nagarkurnool, Joint Collector P Srinivas Reddy, District Nodal Officer Byreddy Singareddy and Returning Officer Hanuman Naik oversaw the process.

In Kollapur, the distribution was done in the presence of Election Observer Md Rashid Khan and District Nodal Officer Anjilappa while in Achampet, it was done in the presence of Elections Observer Daniel Caldinha, Venkataiah, PO, ITDA, and Returning Officer Pandu Naik.
District Collector E Sreedhar monitored the entire process from the control room at the District Collectorate, along with other district-level officers through webcasting. The distribution centre was set up away from the district headquarters at Nellikondi agricultural market yard, and special vehicles were arranged from Nagarkurnool bus stand and Nelikondi road to ferry election officials.

District Collector E Sreedhar also informed the media that 137 autos were arranged to ferry 1,172 registered physically challenged voters across the district, and 482 wheelchairs, ramps and others were arranged for them at polling booths.
