15 food centres to serve lunch for needy in Warangal

Minister for Women and Child Welfare Satyavathi Rathod, who inaugurated the food centres near Pochamma Maidan on Tuesday, appreciated the efforts of the MLA in providing food for the poor in these trying times

Warangal Urban: In view of the lockdown imposed for containment of the spread of coronavirus, the Warangal East MLA Nannapuneni Narender along with several other philanthropists set up 15 food centres for the hungry and needy in the city.

Minister for Women and Child Welfare Satyavathi Rathod, who inaugurated the food centres near Pochamma Maidan on Tuesday, appreciated the efforts of the MLA in providing food for the poor in these trying times.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Narender said about 150 persons would be fed at each center every day. “The people who are working in the frontline of fighting with the coronavirus like the sanitation workers, doctors and the policemen are also welcome to these centers. We are taking all measures to prevent the spread of the disease in the district. The vegetable market has been shifted and set up in 32 acre area at Azamjahi Mills ground to ensure the people maintain physical distancing,” he said.

On the occasion, the Minister and the MLA inaugurated ‘Ready to Door’ android application which facilitates citizens to order groceries to their doorstep. The Minister asked the citizens to make use of the application and receive groceries while remaining safe in their house.
