Kumram Bheem Asifabad: In response to the novel gift-a-smile call given by TRS working president and Information Technology Minister KT Rama Rao on his birthday, Sirpur (T) MLA Koneru Konappa got 160 units of blood donated at a camp to mark the occasion, in Kagaznagar on Friday. He was joined by municipal vice-chairperson Rachakonda Girish Kumar.
Konappa said that the blood would save the lives of victims of road accidents and patients of medical emergencies. He stated that the event was conducted as a response to the gift-a-smile call by Rama Rao. He thanked his followers, supporters and youngsters who voluntarily donated their blood for the cause. He said that the blood would be given to Indian Red Cross Society’s blood bank.
The legislator opined that the Minister had played a pivotal role in the Telangana movement and had sacrificed his plum job in the United States of America. He termed Rama Rao as the leader of masses and an administrator with a human touch. He wished good health for the latter and hoped he would assume top positions in politics in the short future.
He handed over certificates of appreciation to donors. He opined that donating blood was one of the noble deeds. He requested them to extend their cooperation to his activities with similar passion in future too.
A large number of activists of the TRS party, supporters and followers of Konappa arrived in the town to participate in the blood donation programme. Koneru Vamshi, chairman of Koneru Trust and IRCS’ Mancherial unit president K Baskar Reddy, pathologist Dr D Vishnu Murthy and many others were present.
