180 kg of fake tea powder seized in Suryapet

Suryapet: Suryapet police on Wednesday arrested a person and seized 180 kg of fake tea powder packets from their possession.

The arrested person was identified as Kota Srinivas Reddy (40), a native of Jagayapet in Krishna district. During a vehicle checkup, police stopped a Maruthi Van near Shanthi Nagar and found large number of fake tea powder packets of Royal Gold Cup in the vehicle.

Presenting the arrested person before media persons, Suryapet Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nageshwar Rao said the accused was selling loose tea powder in surrounding areas of Jaggayapet after purchasing it from a shop in Vijayawada.

He came in contact with some unidentified persons from Chennai and they offered him 250 gram of fake tea powder packets of  Royal Gold Cup at Rs 30 each. Reddy has been selling each packet at Rs 60 in the surroundings areas of Suryapet by going around in a van.

A case has been filed against Nageshwar Rao and investigation has been taken up to find the persons supplying fake tea power packets to him. Suryapet Circle Inspector Mogilaiah and Sub-Inspector Danniel were also present.
