20 crest gates of NSP lifted

About 6,06,754 cusecs being released as the water level reaches FRL of 590 ft

Nalgonda: About 6,06,754 cusecs of water was being released downstream from Nagarjuna Sagar Project by lifting its 20 crest gates upto 20 feet height on Sunday. The NSP officials were operating the crest gates of the project based on the inflow for the last 20 days. The current inflow to the project was 6,06,754 cusecs. The water level in the project has reached a full reservoir level (FRL) of 590 feet and water storage reached a gross storage capacity of 312.045 tmc of water.

NSP officials said that water equal to the inflow into the project was being released to the down stream by lifting the 20 gates. In view of the holiday on Sunday, Nagarjuna Sagar also witnessed a huge number of tourists. Along with her family members, Badminton player P V Sindhu arrived at Nagarjuna Sagar and spent time at the project watching the water release. On the other hand, two crest gates of Musi project were also lifted and releasing 2,570 cusecs of water to the downstream while inflow into the project was recorded as 7,270 cusecs. The water level in the project touched 642.8 feet as against the full reservoir level of 645 feet.
