20 tonnes of PDS rice seized in Mancherial

Mancherial: Madaram police and revenue officials jointly seized 20 tonnes of PDS rice being transported in a lorry, from Madaram village in Thandur mandal to Gondiya district in Maharashtra, on Friday.

Six persons were taken into custody and a case was registered against them. With the help of information given by the accused, 50 tonnes of PDS rice was recovered while being shipped from Rajaram village of Chelpur mandal in Warangal district.

Bellampalli ACP Balu Jadav said Thandur Inspector Janardhan Reddy, Madaram Sub-inspector B Ramulu and their team intercepted the vehicle carrying the rice and found that rice was being shipped to neighbouring State.

The offenders had an escort vehicle as well.

Ramagundam Commissioner of Police Vikram Jeet Duggal and ACP Jadav appreciated Thandur Inspector, Madaram Sub-inspector and the team. They said stern action would be taken against those who transport PDS rice.
