Hyderabad: As part of the ongoing 352nd Prakash Utsav, birthday celebrations of tenth and last Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh, a colourful Nagar Keertan was taken out by the Prabhandak Committee of Central Gurudwara Saheb Gowliguda in the city on Friday.
Passing through the corridors of Central Gurudwara Saheb, Gowliguda, Gurudwara Guru Singh Sabha, Ashok Bazar, Afzalgunj, Siddiamber Bazar, M J Market, Jambagh and Putlibowli, the procession returned back to Gurudwara in the evening.
Prabhandak Committee president S Inder Singh and general secretary S Joginder Singh said over 20,000 Sikh devotees participated in the Nagar Keertan, which was marked with carrying of Guru Granth Sahibji on a decorated vehicle along with ‘Nishaan Saheban’ flag bearers of various Gurudwaras. Shabad keertans were rendered by Jatha Tera Jatha and other Keerthani Jathas while ‘Panj Pyaras’, the five beloved ones, were the cynosure of all eyes, according to a press release.
The Sikh youths hailing from Kalgidhar Dashmesh Jatha and other Gatka Jathas displayed their Sikh martial art form skills.
A mass congregation ‘Vishal Deewan’ will be held at NTR Grounds, besides Imax Theatre, on Sunday from 10.30 am to 4 pm and 25,000 to 30,000 Sikh devotees and other community faiths are expected to congregate, the release said.
