Sangareddy: Declaring 25 gram panchayats as cashless villages, district Collector Kannan Manickaraj said that the aim is to turn 100 villages out of 470 gram panchayats in Sangareddy district into cashless villages by Sankranti.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Manickaraj said that villagers in these 25 villages were equipped with skills to carry out 100 per cent cashless transactions. It is a collective effort made by all wings of district administration, public representatives and people.

The Collector said that they issued PoS machines to as many as 180 shops at these villages.
He said that every member of the 9,356 families living in these 25 villages, carried out at least one digital transaction, so far. Over 9,600 people in these villagers have Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.

Giving details of the district administration’s work in the wake of demonetisation of high currency notes, the Collector said that they ensured issuance of at least one account with the help of APGVB to every family in the district to implement cashless transactions by linking their bank accounts with Aadhaar card.

Stating that there are 6,000 general stores and other shops in the district, the Collector said that they have been organising frequent meetings with shopkeepers urging them to shift to digital transactions.
