Hyderabad: From the warehouse of Amazon India, located at Kothur, 30 laptops were stolen following which Cyberabad police registered a case and launched search operation.

According to police, the issue came to light when the firm was conducting inventory checks of the items in the warehouse. “On Wednesday, when the audit staff was conducting the inventory check, as many as 30 laptops were found missing. Soon, a team, which was deployed to conduct manual check of the items, confirmed that the stock has been stolen,” said S Srinivas, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Shadnagar.

Preliminary investigation did not rule out the possibility of some insiders being involved in stealing the stock.

“Considering the security setup established around the warehouse by the firm, it is not possible for outsiders to enter and commit the theft. Based on this, it is suspected that persons working inside could be involved in the case,” an officer said, adding that a few people were taken into custody and interrogation was going on.

Based on the complaint given by the warehouse supervisor Naga Subba Reddy, the police registered a case under Section 380 (committing theft in a dwelling house) of Indian Penal Code.
