4500 people shifted to relief centres in Warangal city: Errabelli

A total of 16,000 people are being supplied with the food and water in the city and 23 roads of the Roads and Buildings Department, eight roads belonging to Panchayat Raj and 65 roads of the municipal corporation had been damaged, informs Minister

Warangal Urban: Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Monday said that a total of 4,500 people had been shifted to 15 relief centres from 97 colonies that were inundated by the flood waters in the city.

“A total of 16,000 people are being supplied with the food and water in the city,” he said and added that 23 roads of the Roads and Buildings Department, eight roads belonging to Panchayat Raj and 65 roads of the municipal corporation had been damaged by the rains in Warangal Urban district.  He also observed that the encroachments of the ‘nalas’, tanks and ‘Shikam’ lands for over several decades had effected in the inundation in the city and directed the officials to prepare the proposals for the widening of the ‘nalas’ for the free flow of the food water.

Meanwhile, District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu said that as many as 12 illegal structures had been demolished by the GWMC officials on Monday.  “A total of 32 houses that were in dilapidated were also pulled down by the municipal authorities,” he added.
