Hyderabad: On the occasion of its ninth anniversary, Omics International organised a blood donation programme for thalassemia patients, a press release said. Close to 500 employees from Omics International participated in the programme and donated their blood for the cause.

According to Omics, the donation was made to ‘Making Ourselves Better’, an NGO that is involved in delivering medical support to underprivileged and under-resourced communities. The blood donation drive was part of the ‘Omics Employee Giving Thought Programme’, the annual event of Omics International.

“In the last two years, blood donations have helped more than 1,000 persons. We are committed and will continue to do the humanitarian service,” says Dr Srinubabu Gedela, founder and CEO of Omics International.

Thalassemia is a blood disorder that causes excessive destruction of red blood cells, causing anaemia. Children suffering from the ailment need to undergo blood transfusion 20 to 25 times every year.
