Hyderabad: A 55-year-old man from Tolichowki in the city suffered bullet wounds after he was shot at by a group of unknown robbers at a gas station in Dolton, Illinois of US, on Thursday.

As per local media reports, the incident occurred around 9.30 pm (IST) on Thursday when a group of suspects made a robbery attempt at Clark gas station.

Police received a 911 call from the gas station and a group of officers was dispatched to the spot. “They found two people unresponsive inside,” the reports said.

Of the two victims, one was identified as Syed Baquer Hussain (55), native of Tolichowki, who had gone to the US nearly 12 years ago.

Baquer’s son Syed Muzaffar Hussain said his father called him on Thursday night while he was being shifted to the hospital.

“I came to know about the incident when my father rang me up and told about the incident. He was then being shifted to the hospital by the policemen in an ambulance,” he said.

The doctors informed him that Baquer suffered bullet wounds on chest and shoulder. “His condition is stable now,” Muzaffar said.

In the attack, another person, Arshad Vohra, died on the spot. Vohra, native of Gujarat, is said to be the gas station owner’s son.

“My father has been working at the gas station for the past several years. Vohra is the son of the gas station owner,” Muzaffar said.

The family members have approached the Ministry of External Affairs and sought help in obtaining a visa.

Baquer’s wife is in shock after learning about the incident. She is undergoing treatment and the doctors have suggested for a good rest.
