Hyderabad: Young Murugan Abhishek (108 and 4/41) took the second day’s honours with a good all-round performance that helped Hyderabad to take a big 110-run lead against Madhya Pradesh in the four-day quarterfinal match of the Vijay Merchant Trophy under-16 tournament at Gymkhana on Tuesday.

Abhishek hit a century to help Hyderabad post 276 in 108.2 overs and then returned to wreck MP with his off-spin as the visitors were bowled out for a mere 166 in 53.5 overs.

Resuming at the overnight score of 246/8, Hyderabad added another 30 runs but not before Abhishek completing his century.

After his impressive show with the willow, Abhishek cornered the glory with his off spin as he choked the MP batting. He was well supported by pacers Pranav Ajay Varma (2/33) and Rishith Reddy Nirvetla (2/27).

For Madhya Pradesh, Adarsh Manoj Dubey waged a lone battle with a 113-ball 67. At stumps, Hyderabad lost the wicket of opener Anumula Vignesh Reddy for a nought to end the day at 19/1 with an overall lead of 129.
