This Bangalore-based model-actor was as cosmopolitan as the city that she belonged to. Her entry into films was purely accidental. In this regard, Pranitha says, “I seriously don’t know how it happened. I come from a family where we weren’t big on watching movies. One day I get a call for a role opposite Siddharth for Baava movie. I had previously seen his films like Rang De Basanti and Bommarillu; so, I was really excited about it. After that, as they say, there was no turning back.”
She has shared screen space with stars like Jr NTR, Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu and Suriya. When asked about her experience, she explains, “They don’t take their stardom for granted. Even though they are big names, they put in lots of effort for each and every scene. I guess that’s what sets them apart.”
Quizzed about who her favourite co-star was, Pranitha says, “Pawan Kalyan sir. I feel that he is the main reason for the success of Atharintiki Daredi. Initially, many rejected my role because Samantha gets the hero in the end, but I felt that my role was substantial so ended up signing the film. And now I am truly grateful that I trusted my instincts.”
She will be next seen in Ram-Anupama starrer, directed by Trinadha Rao. The film titled Hello Guru Prema Kosame recently unveiled its motion poster.
About whether she will foray into web series and online content, the actor quips, “I personally don’t watch them, I haven’t even seen a single episode of Game of Thrones (laughs). But, I understand the magnitude of their impact. These platforms provide the space to showcase content that aren’t stereotypical stories. Soon, we will all be staying at home to watch some outstanding series and films via streaming apps.”
Apart from movies
“I have two new bar/restaurants in Bangalore, so I am currently enjoying and learning about this industry as well. Apart from that, I just like chilling at home with family and friends. I also have plans to start other ventures in hospitality,” says Pranitha about her entrepreneurial plans.
