Adilabad: Dhaba-K Anganwadi centre in Narnoor mandal won the field leadership award from Ministry of Women and Child Development, government of India, for effectively implementing Poshan Abhiyaan, an initiative of the Centre.

Under the award, the centre’s teacher K Marubai, helper Jangubai, ASHA worker Anjanabai, ANM Sridevi and ICDS supervisor K Bhagyalaxmi were presented certificate of appreciation and an award which carried cash incentive of Rs 2.50 lakh. They received the award from Smriti Zubin Irani, Union Women and Child Development Minister at a programme held in New Delhi on August 23.

Child Development Project Officer Umadevi said that the workers of the centre and officials of ICDS were adjudged to be presented the award for striving in maintaining data on implementing the Poshan Abihyaan and for preventing mortality rate of pregnant women and children. They created awareness among the women over the initiative by conducting door-to-door campaign.

The workers also raised awareness among the villagers over the programmes like right to vote, Swachch Bharati Abhiyaan, safe drinking water and feeding nutrient food to infants and pregnant women.
