Kothagudem: Adivasi associations in the district have appealed to Maoists to release three Adivasi youth allegedly detained by them for the past two days. In a statement released on Saturday to the media here, Adivasi associations complained that Maoist leaders summoned Kunjam Bojja and two other youth of Bodanelli village in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, two days ago.

Telangana and Chhattisgarh Maoists then abducted them into the forests in neighbouring Chhattisgarh and have been subjecting the Adivasi youth to torture accusing them of acting as police informers, they said.

The Adivasi associations claimed that the youth abducted by Maoists were not police informers. It was not proper to torture innocent youth based on suspicions. Maoists must first ascertain the facts before branding the Adivasi youth as police informers, they said.

The Maoists were targeting innocent youth based on false information. In the past also many youth from Adivasi hamlets were abducted and subjected them to torment they said and asked the naxals to immediately release the three youths.
