Chided for taking mobile to class, teenager hangs self in Hyderabad

It is believed that the girl’s class teacher scolded her on Thursday for carrying her mobile phone to the classroom.

Hyderabad: A 13-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide late on Thursday night, after she was reportedly admonished by her teacher for carrying her mobile phone to the classroom.
 
According to the police, the girl, identified as Ravalika, daughter of Venkata Ramana Reddy, was a resident of Nandanagar near Erragadda. She was a Class 8 student at St. Jude’s High School near the Erragadda Rythu Bazar. 
 
It is believed that the girl’s class teacher scolded her on Thursday for carrying her mobile phone to the classroom. 
 
“Feeling insulted, she hanged herself from a ceiling fan in her home,” police said.
 
Based on the complaint given by Ramana Reddy, SR Nagar police have registered a case and took up investigation. The body was shifted to the Gandhi Hospital morgue for autopsy.
