Pawan Kalyan-starrer ‘Agnyathavasi’ hit screens worldwide on Wednesday amidst huge hype. Though the reviews have been mixed so far, the Trivikram directorial has made an impact at the box office commercially with its previews and extended number of regular shows.

Being released in a record number of locations, ‘Agnyathavasi’ has performed well in the US. According to film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has minted Rs 9.65 crore (over $1.5 million) from its preview shows itself in the US. He described the trend as “an earth-shattering start, despite midweek release”, in his tweet.

The movie has reportedly broken the record of ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ on account of preview shows collections in the US box office. In the Telugu states too, the film has seen packed cinema halls on the opening day.

On the other hand, the movie, which marks the third collaboration of Pawan Kalyan and Trivikram, has received mixed reviews from the audience and critics alike. It will be interesting to see how the film performs at the box office alongside other Sankranthi releases like ‘Jai Simha’ and ‘Gang’, though it has permissions for additional screening till January 17 in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
