Ambedkar Jayanthi celebrated on a grand note in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Streets in many areas were decked up with flags and buntings as youth organisations, political parties, government departments and others celebrated Ambedkar Jayanthi on a grand note in the city on Sunday.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner M Dana Kishore and Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar paid floral tributes to Dr. BR Ambedkar statue at Tank Bund.

Elaborate arrangements and floral decorations were made at the statues of BR Ambedkar across the city as part of the celebrations. As many political leaders turned up to offer their tributes at Tank Bund, instructions were given to the GHMC officials to ensure all arrangements were in place to avoid any inconvenience.

In tune with youth associations, political parties and government departments organised special programmes to celebrate the occasion.

At Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University, Vice-Chancellor Pravin Rao appealed to the staff to conduct special programmes on such occasions.

After paying tributes, Nehru Zoological Park curator N Kshitija said Dr. BR Ambedkar was the architect of Indian constitution. The 128th birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar was celebrated on a grand note at TSRTC Kala Bhavan.

Addressing on the occasion, TSRTC Executive Director Purushotham Naik briefed about the contributions and yeomen services of the great leader to the country.

Telangana was possible due to Ambedkar, says KTR

TRS working president KT Rama Rao on Sunday said that without Dr BR Ambedkar, separate Telangana State could not have been realised. “Dr BR Ambedkar should not be considered as a representative of a particular community as he belongs to the entire nation,” he said.

Participating in the birth anniversary celebrations of Ambedkar at Telangana Bhavan, Rama Rao said Ambedkar was a visionary leader on par with Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru “Unless for Article 3 was not incorporated in the Constitution of India, separate Telangana State could not have been realised. Ambedkar fought against tyranny of the majority against the minority,” he said.

He stated that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao achieved Statehood following the philosophy of Ambedkar and was also implementing welfare schemes with his inspiration. He felt that Ambedkar’s teachings were more relevant now than ever in India where majority voice was suppressing minority voice.

Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali, Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Welfare Minister Koppula Eshwar, MLAs Balka Suman, KP Vivekananda, MP Pasunuri Dayakar, MLCs Srinivas Reddy, MS Prabhakar Rao, VK Goud and other TRS workers were also present. On the occasion, Rama Rao launched Balka Foundation floated by MLA Balka Suman to take up service activities in the State.
