Hyderabad: Amitpal Singh, with eight points from nine rounds, emerged champion in the Third Sardar Bishan Singhji Memorial State Open Chess Tournament which concluded at Olivemounr Global School, Nalanda Nagar.

Amitpal defeated Prraneeth Vuppala (8 points) in the tiebreaker to bag the title while GV Shrinivasa Rao (7.5 points) secured the third place.

Sreehith Reddy (7.5 points), Raghav Srivathsav, S Vikramjit Singh, Sibi Srinivas Einstein, Ramakrishna Perumalla, Aditya Varun Gampa, Chetan Sharma, Sai Krishna, Shanmukha Pulli, Suhaas, Akira Sowmyanath (7 points each), M Viswak Sen, S Rishpal Singh, K Ramu, Wankhade Sanskruti, Vishwanath Prasad and O Kushal also won cash prizes.

Gymnastics champion B Aruna Reddy and Deep Kaur, wife of Sardar Bishan Singh gave away the prizes to the winners.
