Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh government would provide 75 per cent of the jobs for local unemployed, Industries, Commerce and IT minister M Goutham Reddy announced here on Saturday.
Talking to reporters at the APIIC zonal office after a visit to the Brandix apparel unit in the Atchutapuram SEZ, he said the main aim of the government was to generate jobs for the unemployed in a big way and job-oriented training programmes would be conducted for youth towards this. “We will encourage establishment of MSMEs in the textiles, garmets, and food processing sectors as they will generate mass employment. Priority will be accorded to development of integrated clusters and integrated workshops will be organised for setting up of ancillary units,” he revealed.
In this context, he noted that Brandix which came up during the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy regime promising 60,000 jobs, has so far provided employment to about 25,000. Bradix management had promised to provide 25,000 more jobs if infrastructural support was given to it, he stated.
The Minister also said that the incentives due to industries during the past five years which were pending, would be released in a phased manner. On the IT sector development in the city, he said Visakhapatnam was ideal for IT units and establishment of incubation centres would enable setting up of startups. The Govenrment would set up three types of incubation centres with Rs 50 crore for the purpose, he said.
