Anjani Kumar takes charge as Hyderabad Police Commissioner

Anjani Kumar took over from VV Srinivasa Rao, who was till now the Commissioner (full additional charge), in the Commissioner’s Office at Basheerbagh in the presence of senior officials.

Hyderabad: Senior IPS official Anjani Kumar assumed charge as the Hyderabad City Police Commissioner here on Monday.

Anjani Kumar took over from VV Srinivasa Rao, who was till now the Commissioner (full additional charge), in the Commissioner’s Office at Basheerbagh in the presence of senior officials.

An IPS officer of the 1990 batch, Anjani Kumar served as Additional DGP, Law and Order, TS for the last two years, prior to which he was the Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Hyderabad for three and a half years.

A product of the University of Delhi, Anjani Kumar was awarded the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service and the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service in the police department.

He has earlier worked at various places like Warangal, Mahbubnagar, Nizamabad, Guntur and Prakasam districts in united Andhra Pradesh, apart from working as the IGP (Warangal), DIG (Nizamabad Range) and as the Chief of the elite Greyhounds unit.

Anjani Kumar is married to Vasundhara Sinha, an IRS officer and they have two sons. After assuming charge, Anjani Kumar met Governor E S L Narasimhan, DGP M Mahender Reddy among other senior officials
