Anna Amarutahastam scheme launched in Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam: Anna Amrutahastam programme was a boon for pregnant women and lactating mothers and it should be implemented fully at the field level to prevent mortality among them and infants, Roads and Buildings Minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu has said.

Inaugurating the mid-day meal programme for pregnant women and lactating mothers along with children, under Amma Amrutahastam scheme the ICDS projects in the city on Saturday, he said that the Government accorded top priority for the welfare of women and children. The programme was already in force in the agency area of the district and now was being extended to those in the plains, he revealed.

As many as 57,715 pregnant women and lactating mothers would get nutritious food for six days at all Anganwadi centres, he added.
