AP Boat tragedy: 19 bodies recovered so far

After the mishap, teams from the Navy, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State disaster management department began search and rescue operations and found the boat stuck in the sand-bed at a depth of 60 feet.

Vijayawada: Bodies of 19 persons were retrieved from the sunken boat in the Godavari river till Wednesday evening.

The boat tragedy took place on Tuesday near Vadapalli with nearly 30 passengers on board.
After the mishap, teams from the Navy, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State disaster management department began search and rescue operations and found the boat stuck in the sand-bed at a depth of 60 feet.

There was difficulty in extricating the bodies from the closed cabin of the motor launch which was said to have carried even heavy cement bags besides the passengers, causing them to suffer a watery grave.
