Aparna, a self-taught painter

This floral artist is one of the few to master the blade and porcelain painting

Aparna Raju is a known name in the painting field. With two world records in her kitty, this artist is now aiming for a place in the Limca Book of World Records.

Aparna,a resident of Tarnaka, has dabbled into painting in her childhood. She says that it was her father, who encouraged her from the beginning. “He used to get me painting books, and they were my first teachers,” she says. Aparna does almost all forms of paintings, and is among the few artists who could master blade painting and porcelain painting. And to her credit, Aparna has even participated in many solo and group shows in India, as well as abroad.

Aparna shares that it was after she moved to Hyderabad that she went onto learn technicalities from Azra Jamal. She says that these classes actually helped her to improve and enhance her skills. Aparna says that over the years she has improved and experimented with her techniques and managed to develop a style for herself.

The artist shares that people can clearly identify her style of work and “I love to do florals.” “It is not that I do not enjoy doing other kinds, but floral is closer to my heart,” she adds. Recently, Aparna also took her art the digital way. Over the span of five years, she uploaded many videos to show the world how blade and porcelain art is done. “Especially, porcelain art is expensive and not many people do it because it is difficult as well,” she adds.

Aparna shares that there is a need to spread awareness about these art forms among people. In fact, she is the first artist to show porcelain and blade painting on TV as well. The artist mentions that she has also done about four porcelain dinner sets and has 15 video on her YouTube channel Aparna Arts.
