APS Golconda celebrated Van Mahotsav week with devising a novel idea for a virtual celebration that brought students and the entire teachersâ€™ fraternity back together to celebrate trees.
The event commenced with Walk the Talk where Basha, PGT (Bio) was in conversation with Vidya Muralidharan, Principal of APS Golconda through Google Meet and Facebook Live.
The event showcased the green cover addition at the school which has occurred over a decade and included the plantation of a sapling by Prinipal Vidya Muralidharan in dedication to the staff and students.
A virtual tour of school herbal garden, emphasizing the value of medicinal species was carried out, followed by an interactive session by students of class 12th. The theme of session highlighted measures taken by the Indian Government to save forests.
Students from different classes participated in Tree Talks and other virtual activities related to Van Mahotsav. The tree plantation drive has not only educated the students on benefits accruing from the forest cover but also diverting focus on fostering a culture of responsibility towards nature among students. The children also planted sapling at their homes and shared pictures with their classmates.
