Hyderabad: Want to take a selfie with music maestro AR Rahman? Is posing for a picture with Rahman a lifelong ambition for you? It may be very difficult in real life to get hold of the Oscar-winning music director. However, here is an opportunity for die-hard fans to take a picture with Rahman in virtual reality.

Hyderabad-based Avantari Technologies has collaborated with AR Rahman to launch a personal life-size Augmented Reality application ‘ARxAR’, which is available for all iPhone users in the Apple’s app store.

Speaking about the application, AR Rahman, in his recent Facebook post, said “Other than music, the one thing people ask me often is to pose for pictures. While it’s fun to do it when I am outside bonding with fans, it’s is also a hindrance to creativity”.

The music maestro in his FB post said: “Thoughts and tunes come at random moments to me, while I am walking in the airport or sitting in a lounge or dining at a restaurant. Instead of denying and feeling odd about it, the idea of an augmented reality photo app felt like such a blessing”.

The developers from Avantari Technologies, who interacted with presspersons on Monday, said the mobile app was a gift to Rahman fans.

“The app will take Rahman into the personal space of fans. With the help of the app, Rahman will communicate his message on a direct basis,” says Bhairav Shankar, CEO, Avantari Technologies.

Through the app, fans will be able to take pictures and videos with Rahman and even post on various platforms.

“This is the first time a top artist from the entertainment industry has featured in an augmented reality application. Fans can take pictures with him as if he was actually present in person and also interact with him,” says Bhairav Shankar. The app was designed on the lines of the hologram and took more than a month to execute it.
