Nizamabad: Housing and R&B Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy on Friday took on Nizamabad BJP MP Dharmapuri Aravind for spreading falsehood on Central funding for Aasara pension scheme. “The MP did it during Parliament elections and is now at it again, claiming that the Centre was contributing 75 per cent of the funding for Aasara pension scheme,” he said.
The Minister was speaking at campaign meetings in Bheemgal for the municipal elections. “I challenge Aravind to come to Bheemgal Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple and swear before God that the Union government had given 75 per cent funding for the pension scheme, and the people can then believe it,” he said, adding that being an MP, Aravind should desist from spreading false propaganda.
“What he is doing is not right. The Centre is only providing Rs 200 crore for the scheme which translates to a contribution of just Rs 46 of the Rs 2,016 that the State government is extending as pension to various sections of society,” he said, adding that the MP had also levelled serious allegations against him with regard to his properties.
The Minister also questioned Aravind on the issue of setting up turmeric board in Nizamabad. “He had given it in writing on a bond paper that the turmeric board would be set up immediately after Parliament elections, but had failed to redeem his promise to the people. He has started the same drama again but the people of Nizamabad will not believe him this time around,” Prashanth Reddy added.
