Sangareddy: Civil Supplies Department Commissioner Akun Sabharwal said all arrangements were in place to procure paddy from farmers without giving any scope for middlemen.
During a meeting with Sangareddy district officials here on Monday, the Commissioner said they had started procuring from eight centres in the district against the proposed 67. Saying that they would open all the procurement at all centres shortly, he said they were offering Rs 1,770 and Rs 1,750 per quintal for A Grade and ordinary variety of paddy respectively.
To monitor the situation time-to-time and to receive the complaints from farmers, the senior IPS officer said they had set up toll-free number (180042500333) and WhatsApp number (7330774444).
He said the officials would resolve issues pertaining to the procurement immediately and asked the officials to sensitise farmers over the moisture content to be maintained in paddy.
Sabharwal asked the farmers to follow the guidelines while bringing the wet paddy to purchasing centres and instructed the officials to put all efforts to provide tarpaulins to protect the paddy from rains at procurement centres with the help of the Marketing Department.
