Hyderabad: Budda Aruna Reddy was felicitated at an event organized by the Ethic Sports Foundation. She became only the second sports woman to be felicitated at this platform after Mithali Raj.
Jayesh Ranjan, the chief guest highlighted the importance of Aruna’s achievement for the State of Telangana and India and also cited how Dipa Karmakar’s performance at the Olympics helped gymnastics grow across the country.
He also said that just like badminton, boxing and wrestling, gymnastics will attract to many Indians following this medal. He also mentioned Meghna Reddy’s selection for the Commonwealth Games. He concluded by assuring Aruna that he will try to provide for the little assistance he can in terms of raising funds for her training.
The guest of honour, Mohan Gupta (President, Hyderabad Chapter of Indian Medical Association) also lauded Aruna for her achievement at a global platform. He addressed the youth available at the venue by citing Aruna’s success spurred by the setbacks & personal tragedies, quoting the achievement of Aruna as a life changing moment which was powered by her dedicated & passion towards her endeavour.
Speaking with the audience at the venue, Aruna Reddy highlighted the role of Ethic Sports Foundation and its board members Omkar Yadav & Brij Kishore in her career.
In recognition of the achievement, the foundation presented Aruna Reddy with 2 lakh rupees & a silver made citation certificate. Her Coach Brij Kishore was also presented Rs 1 Lakh for his efforts.
Members from gymnastics association, coaches from LB Stadium and the student & business community of Begum Bazar graced the occasion.
