KB Asifabad: Members of the Human Rights Forum on Wednesday alleged that policemen were terrorising tribals in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district. They said the ethnic tribes were being portrayed as sympathisers of Maoists and were being implicated in false cases as well.

Sujayath Khan, district president and Sidam Tirupati secretary, of HRF, in a statement here, demanded that the government take steps to “prevent arbitrary torture of Adivasis by policemen under the pretext that they were supporting Maoists.” They accused the policemen of booking cases against elders of two villages for feeding some unknown persons, besides torturing youngsters seeking the whereabouts of the ultras.

The president and secretary further alleged that policemen were arresting innocent tribals and causing problems for them, and sought the immediate intervention of the State government.
