Number of accidents at block spots have come down after this drive has been started

Nalgonda: With the initiative of Accident Resolve Teams by the district police, accidents at the block spots have come down significantly in the district. These areas were identified as accident prone areas. The causality cases in the accidents at the block spots also came down to 61 in the year 2016 from 128 in 2015, which was a major achievement by ART, which was setup by the police officials, R&B and RTA departments. Accident Resolve Teams would study the reasons for mishaps at accident prone area and come out with correctional measures to avoid accidents.   

The block spots were also classified into A,B and C. Accidents or deaths when occur more than 20 was considered as A, more than 10 as B and more than 5 as C. In the year 2016, 27 accidents have taken place at eight block spots at a stretch of 63 kilometres on National Highway and 61 accidents at 10 block spots on 179 kilometres long State highways in the district. With the correctional measures, the number of accident at block spots on National Highway 65 were brought down to 65 from 111 in the year 2016. While the road mishaps at the block spots on State Highway-2 were also reduced to 53 from 61 in 2016. The accidents at the block spots on State Highway-19 came down to 17 from 20 in 2016.

Out of total 18 block spots in the district, eight were located between Chityal and Kethepally Police station limits on National Highway 65. Similarly, seven block spots between Narketpally and Wadapally on State Highway-2 were spotted. Also, there were 16 C category block spots and 2 B category block spots in the district. The Superintendent of Police N Prakash Reddy informed that mistakes by the drivers and road structures lead to the accidents. “The Accident Resolve Teams would take up the measures for correction of the road structures at block spots and also conducting enforcement drives would help in finding faults like drunk and drive, rash driving and others. We aim at making block spots as accidents free zones,” he said.
