Audi Hyderabad to grow beyond industry average

Sees healthy growth in Hyderabad and mid-tier towns of Telangana and AP

Hyderabad: Audi Hyderabad which grew by 6 per cent in 2017 selling 510 vehicles in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh is expecting better growth this year as Audi lines up a series of new launches starting with Audi Q5 now. It is projecting a growth of over 20 per cent in both the States together while the industry could grow by 12-15 per cent. Luxury car industry which occupies a small portion of the overall car industry at present is expected to grow faster in the coming years.

Telangana contributed a major chunk of it accounting for 414 vehicles with the remaining 96 sold in Andhra Pradesh. Hyderabad accounts for about 87 per cent of Telangana sales, continuing to take the lion’s share.

Audi Hyderabad managing director Rajiv Sanghvi told Telangana Today, “What is interesting is there is a surge in demand in C-class towns such as Karimnagar, Warangal and Nizamabad. There is a lot of buying power coming from these areas. While the numbers are not very large, the demand from these towns is upwards of 25 per cent going up to 70 per cent.”

Audi has offerings in three categories-Sedans where the company has A3, A4, A5, A6, A7 and A8, SUV category with Q3, Q5 and Q7, and sports range with Audi TT and R8. The mass selling vehicles for Audi had been A3, A4, A6, Q3 and Q7.

Audi Hyderabad has one outlet in Hyderabad at present and one in Visakhapatnam. Audi Hyderabad will be moving to a larger facility in Hitec city by May this year. It will set up one outlet in Vijayawada by March.

He said, “We are gradually looking at opportunities in other towns of Telangana to create outlets. Each facility needs on an average investment of over Rs 4.5 crore. We will allow the existing facilities to stabilise. In most of the regions, we have resident executives and we ensure that every two months, we send our vehicles to other locations for brand experience and test drive can happen by prospective buyers. We also have a mobile show room with all amenities with two-car display so that prospective customers can touch and feel the vehicles.”

Last year the industry grew by 7-8 per cent because of factors such as GST.

Audi Q5 launched

Audi Hyderabad launched the second generation Audi Q5. The vehicle combines the sportiness of Audi Sedan with multiple features and intuitive interior. Available at a starting price of Rs 53.25 lakh (ex-showroom Hyderabad) going up to Rs 57.60 lakh, the Audi Q5 comes with all-wheel drive quattro system, a suspension and damper control, and a comprehensive line-up of infotainment systems.

Sanghvi adds, “The new Audi Q5 is the most awaited launch from Audi this year. It is larger, lighter, more efficient and offers a blend of design, driving experience, technology and infotainment creating new benchmark in the segment. This will be the largest volume brand for Audi this year. We had received bookings 30-45 days prior to the vehicle’s launch even before the price was announced.”

He informed, “Corporate professionals and real estate businessmen had been the key customer group. We have traces of realty rebounding this year which will boost sales this year in Telangana and AP. Customers who will like to self-drive across cities could be the potential buyers of Q5. There has been phenomenal growth in SUVs in the recent years. Q5 presents of a lot of features that improves the overall ride not just for front passengers but also the rear. There is more headroom, longer and wider adding comfort to users. The Q5 also brings several technology offerings. The vehicle is not only fast but it’s fuel efficiency has improved significantly.”
