Twitter is launching new warning labels on controversial tweets from high profile users. This label provides an open platform for the users where they can openly and publicly respond to their leaders and hold them accountable. In some cases, where it maybe in the public’s interest to access certain tweets, Twitter places a notice where the user has to click or tap on the screen before she/he sees the tweet to provide additional clarity.
Despite the tweet violating the Twitter rules, the company has chosen not to remove it with a tap through ‘View’ option to see the actual tweet. It makes the users conscious about their tweets which should not be violating anyone’s emotions. Twitter states that new warning labels will be applied to violating accounts which will meet these criteria — the person who is awaiting for confirmation as Government officer, one who has more than 1,00,000 followers and who is verified. Even if an account does not meet these criteria and if the issue relates directly to violence or any severe threat, that will be considered outright to be removed.
