Bhadrachalam district health officer dies of Covid-19 

The 35-year-old doctor, who was also the District Immunisation Officer (DIO) at Bhadrachalam, had tested Covid-19 positive and was undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital.

Hyderabad: Deputy District Medical and Health Officer (Dty DM&HO) from Bhadrachalam, Dr Naresh, passed away at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Friday.

The 35-year-old doctor, who was also the District Immunisation Officer (DIO) at Bhadrachalam, had tested Covid-19 positive and was undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital.

During his treatment, Dr. Naresh developed complications and was shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad where he breathed his last on Friday.

Health Minister Eatala Rajender expressed shock over the demise of the doctor and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family members.

“Within a week of testing positive for Covid-19, Dr. Naresh passed away. It is a distressing development.   We will provide all possible assistance to the bereaved family members of the doctor,” Rajender said.

The members of Telangana State Government Doctors Association (TSGDA) and Doctors Association from Directorate of Health, Telangana expressed their condolences over the death of the young doctor. Senior doctors said that Dr. Naresh had recently cracked the NEET exam and was set to pursue his postgraduation.

“The State government should adequately compensate the family members of Dr. Naresh for their loss. The authorities must provide an exgratia of Rs. 1 crore and also a government job to a family member of Dr. Naresh,” doctors from various associations requested.
