Bharath Shanthi Dootha Award for Prof MS Swaminathan

Warangal Urban: World Peace Festival Society (WPFS), Warangal, has presented ‘Bharath Shanthi Dootha’ award to father of Indian green revolution, eminent agriculture scientist and Chairman of National Commission on Farmers (NCF), Prof MS Swaminathan on Tuesday at MS Swaminathan Research Foundation, Chennai, said General Secretary of WPFS Dr Anees Siddique in a press note released here on Tuesday.

The head department of economics, Kakatiya University, Warangal, Prof Suresh Lal, who was at the programme, said Dr Swaminathan’s work brought about a sea-change in the life of our nation. “It is due to his pioneering efforts that our country transformed from a ship-to-mouth existence to one of the leading producers and exporters of food grains in the world. More than six decades of his work with various capacities in India and abroad made him “the Father of Economic Ecology,” he added.

General Secretary of WPFS Dr Anees Siddique, founder Sirojoddin and others were present during the award ceremony at Chennai.
