To wear something no other lady can get her hands on is a dream of every woman who likes jewellery. Tapping into this innate need for wearing custom-made jewellery are Simran Jain Sisodia and Mehak Jain Sisodia who started ‘The Mehran Collection’ and have quickly become popular among the fashionable crowd in the city.

They run the homegrown label specialising in handmade jewellery made from polymer clay. The minimalist jewellery is durable, non-toxic clay that is exceptionally lightweight and sustainable. “We just started the label online six months ago and the response from the public has been good. Due to the pandemic, most people are spending time doing online shopping which is one of the reasons our business is doing well,” says Simran.

“My sister and I always had a plan to start something on our own. I decided to start off on my own and worked for an MNC company for a year after my graduation. I invested the money I earned to start the business. My parents were also supportive of my decision to follow my dreams,” adds Simran.

Both she and her sister share a love for statement jewellery which translated into their designs. “Each design at Mehran is handmade with love and care. The limited designs make it special and we make sure it brings a smile on our client’s face. Each design is made in small batches and we do not mass produce,” says Mehak.

“We want to try new concepts at a pocket-friendly price. We have earrings and dainty necklaces made from polymer clay starting at Rs 199 to Rs 500,” says Simran. Apart from the readymade pieces available on their website, they also customise according to the requirements of their customers and take orders via Instagram or their online store.
