Vijayawada: Senior BJP leader and MLC Somu Veerraju demanded that AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu tender an apology to BJP national president Amit Shah for an attack on the latter at Tirupati on Friday.

He also demanded the suspension of the Tirupati Superintendent of Police besides taking action against TDP activists who threw stones on the BJP president’s convoy.

Talking to media persons here on Saturday, the BJP leader wondered if there was any government in place in Andhra Pradesh.

“When the president of a national is attacked with stones, will they not file any case? Political differences are not uncommon. We want to know what exactly is the TDP policy and question the double standards of the TDP president, the BJP leader said.

Veerraju also felt that Chandrababu was up to something fishy. There was need for a public debate on the double standards of Chandrababu in the latter’s 40 years of public life, he opined, citing the examples of criticising Modi in 2004 and angling for a poll pact with him in 2014 “Now Chandrababu says that BJP will not get even a single seat.

He is impatient with even people’s verdict. He made as many as 1,200 promises in the past four years. Said package was better than special status. He indulged in corruption to the tune of thousands of crores of rupees. The TDP has no right to protest,” he said, adding that the TDP intentions were questionable.

The BJP leader also said that failure of the TDP cycle yatra indicated that people were not keen on special status for the State.
