Hyderabad: Remembering the freedom fighters, the Centre as well as the BJP would organise nation-wide programmes from August 15 to 30, expressing solidarity with the families of the armed forces who are guarding the Indian borders, said Union Minister for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya.
He emphasised the need to instill patriotism among younger generations by recalling the sacrifices of Indian freedom fighters for Indian Independence.
Speaking after flagging off ‘Tiranga Yatra’ at Necklace Road here on Saturday, Dattatreya said India was fully equipped to give a befitting reply to its enemies and would not tolerate terrorism. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a call for Quit Corruption, Quit Terrorism, Quit Casteism, Quit Communalism, and Quit Regionalism remembering Quit India movement.
“The Prime Minister wants to achieve India free of all these social evils in next five years by 2022,” he said.
BJP State president K Laxman said Tiranga Yatra was an initiative by Prime Minister Modi aiming to propagate and promote patriotism among people across the country.
He said the Prime Minister took the initiative also to wipe out gap between poor and rich as well as corrupt system that deepened its roots over the past 70 years due to the wrong decisions of previous governments. He also emphasised the need to spread the fighting spirit of Telangana freedom fighters against Nizam rule by revising history books in Telangana.
BJP floor leader Kishan Reddy said that some internal forces were trying to disturb the national integrity and people need to fight unitedly.
