Body of retired officer donated to Kakatiya Medical College

Raja Rathnaiah expressed his desire in 2003 that his body should be donated to the Kakatiya Medical College, instead of it being cremated.

Warangal: Family members of Enugula Raja Rathnaiah, a retired government officer, donated his body to Kakatiya Medcial College on Friday.

Raja Rathnaiah, who retired as a Joint Director in Agriculture department breathed his last on Thursday. He expressed his desire in 2003 that his body should be donated to the Kakatiya Medical College, instead of it being cremated. Honoring his wish, the family members decided to hand over the body and approached the medical college. The medical college authorities profusely thanked them for the noble gesture for the cause of medical education and accepted the body.

Raja Rathnaiah was born in Manakondur village of Karimnagar district in 1936 and studied in Hanamkonda up to High School. Later he received his Bachelors degree in Agriculture Sciences from Osmania University. He joined the Agriculture department as an Agriculture officer and retired as Joint Director. He worked in Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam, Adilabad, Medak, Nalgonda and Hyderabad in different capacities. After retirement also he worked on formation of Water Users groups under SRSP.
