Hyderabad: Public sector telecom major BSNL is all set to roll out its 4G services in the State with a pilot project in Jadcherla town in Mahabubnagar district and Wyra town in Khammam district by August, BSNL Telangana Telecom Circle Chief General Manager V Sundar said.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, he said 4G services would be progressively expanded before December.
A total of 409 ENodeB’s (4G Towers) would be installed in various Secondary Switching Areas (SSAs)/districts as part of the project to extend higher data speeds of 4G services to its customers.
Metro Rail corridor
In the city, the BSNL is planning to launch 64 new 2G and 3G sites along the Hyderabad Metro Rail corridor for providing seamless 3G services. Sundar said of the 64 metro sites planned, already 26 stations including Nagole, JNTU, Kukatpally, Lakdikapul, Habsiguda and Mettuguda were commissioned.
The combined AP Circle (covering Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) achieved revenues of Rs 2,115 crore for the 2017-18 financial year, a drop of around 15 per cent when compared to the previous fiscal. However, BSNL officials said they hoped to increase the revenue by five per cent in 2018-19 fiscal.
