Hyderabad: As part of the pre-budget exercise, Finance Minister Etela Rajender on Tuesday discussed the budgetary proposals sent by various departments with Finance Department officials and listed out the priority sectors for the 2017-18 budget.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary (Finance) K Ramakrishna Rao, Secretaries Shiva Shankar and Sandip Sulthania and financial advisor to the government GR Reddy.
“We went through the proposals forwarded by the various departments and also discussed the previous year’s department-wise budgetary allocations and expenditure,” Rama Krishna Rao told Telangana Today.
The meeting also suggested a few changes to the proposals forwarded by the Irrigation, Education, Agriculture, Roads and Buildings, Health and Forest departments.
The officials said several meetings would be held next week to finalise the budget copy. The Finance Minister has already submitted a report on BC budget allocations to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao a few days ago.
Likewise, irrigation, industries, agriculture, SC/ST and minority welfare budgetary allocation would be submitted to the Chief Minister for his approval in a couple of days, said an official involved in preparation of the budget.
