Canada-Telangana relations to be strengthened

Canadian Consul General for Southern India Nicole Girard called on TRS working president KT Rama Rao in Hyderabad on Monday

Hyderabad: Canada Consul General for Southern India Nicole Girard on Monday called on TRS working president KT Rama Rao and officials of the State government to discuss on trade and cultural relations between Canada and Telangana. She was all praise for the innovative initiatives of the Telangana government for agriculture and industrial development in the State.

During the meeting with the Canada Consul General at his camp office here, Rama Rao explained the progress made by the young State of Telangana in less than five years of its existence. He said the State government had set welfare and development as its priority with special emphasis on agricultural and industrial development. He elaborated on various schemes launched by the State government which were being emulated by the Central government and other States as well. The duo discussed about investor-friendly atmosphere in the State and Rama Rao informed that the State government was ready to strengthen the trade and cultural relations with Canada.

Nicole Girard appreciated the State government for its innovative schemes towards agricultural and industrial development as well as inquired about possible tie-ups between Canadian and Telangana-based organisations. She also congratulated the TRS working president over the party’s performance in the recent Assembly elections.

Later, Nicole Girard called on Chief Secretary SK Joshi, at the Secretariat on Monday. They agreed to work for strengthening relations in trade, culture and other sectors including education. Senior Political Analyst Madhusri Das from High Commission of Canada, New Delhi and Trade Commissioner Vikram Jain, Hyderabad also were present.
