Hyderabad: Some unidentified suspects broke into a grocery store in Mansoorabad and made away with cash kept in the safe on Sunday.

They entered the shop through the roof by breaking metal sheets. In his complaint, the store owner, Raghuramaiah, told police that he had left the shop around 11 pm on Saturday night.

The incident came to light when he returned on Sunday morning and found the safe open.
Vanasthalipuram Inspector S Murali Krishna said the suspects apparently were aware that the shop had metal roofing sheets. “We suspect more than one person was involved in executing the crime. The way the suspects entered the store indicates that they had come prepared with tools required to cut metal sheets,” he said.

The owner informed police that the safe had Rs 3 lakh too, apart from Rs 80,000.

“However, clarity is yet to emerge about the remaining amount stolen for which documents and bank transactions will be verified,” the Inspector said.

Based on a complaint, the police have booked a case under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and took up the investigation. CCTV cameras were being examined to trace out the suspects.
