CBFC inaction against film ‘Kamma Rajyamlo…’ questioned

Hyderabad: A division bench of the Telangana High Court, comprising Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice A Abhishek Reddy, on Tuesday adjourned the case pertaining to film ‘Kamma Rajyamlo Kadapa Reddlu’ to Wednesday. M Indrasena Chowdary informed the court that the movie name was just changed to ‘Amma Rajyamlo’. He further said many leaders, including a former President of India, were insulted. The movie is supposed to be released this Thursday. Chowdary had questioned the inaction of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in not taking steps to stop the screening of the movie. He also said the movie hurt the sentiments of the Kamma caste. At the request of the CBFC to file its report on the movie, the bench adjourned the case.

Police told to file counter on illegal detention

Justice Vinod Kumar of the Telangana High Court directed the police to file a counter in a matter on alleged illegal detention by the Medipally police. D Devendra and M Swapna of Chetanya Mahila Sangham filed a writ plea against Medipally police, Hyderabad, for violating due process of law in summoning a person. The petitioners said the police refused to give any reasons for summoning them to the police station. When they refused to go, the police dragged one of the petitioners’ father to the station, they said. They also complained that the police made them fill a form forcibly. The counsel of the petitioners questioned as how the police could call them absconding when his clients were present in this court. The judge directed them to file a detailed counter and adjourned the case.
