Centre asks TS to allocate land to build hospitals

There is a proposal to set up three 100-bed hospitals in Ramagundam, Warangal and Ghoshamahal (Hyderabad), said Bandaru Dattatreya.

Hyderabad: Hundred-bed ESI hospitals would soon come up in Warangal, Ramagundam and Ghoshamahal, said Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya here on Saturday.

After reviewing with Minister for Home, Labour and Employment Nayani Narsimha Reddy over the upgrading of hospitals and construction of new hospitals, Dattatreya said the Central government was ready to sanction funds for hospitals if the State government provided land in Warangal, Ramagundam and Ghoshamahal districts.

He said ESIC dispensaries at Tandur, Doulatabad, Khammam, Suryapet, Maheshwaram, Siddipet and Kalwakurthy would be upgraded to six-bed hospitals and Rs 10 crore would be allocated to each hospital for the construction and infrastructure.

“Housing subsidy for the beedi workers will be increased from Rs 40,000 to Rs 1.50 lakh and Labour and Employment Ministry has planned to construct 10,000 houses in the State besides providing Employment Provident Fund and ESI facilities to the beedi workers,” Dattatreya mentioned.

The Minister also said a decision would be taken soon for the establishment of two ESIC sub regional centres at Ramagundam and Kothagudem and one EPF regional office at Khammam on the request of Telangana government.
