Hyderabad: The ‘Chaddi Gang’ is in the city. And the cops want you to be alert. A few CCTV grabs, apparently from Mathrusri Nagar in Kukatpally, has prompted the Kukatpally Housing Board police to urge citizens to be alert since the visuals have confirmed the presence of one of the most notorious robbery gangs of the country in the city.

Though the CCTV grabs were not officially released, they are being circulated widely on social media and WhatsApp groups. Nevertheless, it was better to be alert and keep an eye on strangers and on the neighbourhood, KPHB Inspector Ch Kushalkar said.

“People are requested to call the control room and any emergency numbers if any person or persons are found moving around suspiciously,” he said.

The ‘Chaddi Gang’, known to move around in the night wearing just their inner wear, are notorious for their expertise in committing robberies mostly when residents are not in their homes. However, they could break in even residents are present. The CCTV grabs, according to the police, is believed to be of the gang walking along an isolated street, probably conducting a recce to find whether there were any locked houses in the area, which has been identified as Mathrusri Nagar.

Based on the suspicion that some of the recent robberies in KPHB and surrounding areas could have been carried out by the dreaded gang, the Cyberabad police have already constituted a special team to nab the gang.
